Learn about the beginnings of the Plassey War, the Battle of Buxar, and the start of the 1857 Indian Rebellion against British colonial rule in India
Plassey War
प्लासी का युद्ध, or the Plassey War, was a decisive battle fought in 1757 between the British East India Company and the Nawab of Bengal, Siraj ud-Daulah. The battle took place near the village of Plassey and resulted in a victory for the British, who were able to establish their control over Bengal and the surrounding regions.
Battle of Buxar
बक्सर का युद्ध, or the Battle of Buxar, was another important battle fought in 1764 between the British East India Company and a coalition of Indian rulers. The battle took place near the town of Buxar and resulted in a victory for the British, who were able to secure their control over large parts of India.
Indian Rebellion of 1857
1857 की क्रांति की शुरुआत, or the Indian Rebellion of 1857, was the first major rebellion against British colonial rule in India. The rebellion began in Meerut on May 10, 1857, and quickly spread to other parts of the country. It was initially successful, with Indian soldiers and civilians joining together to capture several major British-held cities and towns, but ultimately the British regained control and suppress the rebellion.
These three events; the Plassey War, Battle of Buxar, and Indian Rebellion of 1857, marked the beginning of the British East India Company's rule in India and the start of direct British colonial rule. It also had a lasting impact on the Indian independence movement and the relationship between India and the British Empire.
